DOBSON — One of the main focuses of the Surry Community College Rotaract Club is serving others. As a result, the club held a holiday canned food drive at the end of the fall semester in an effort to donate goods to the Salvation Army.

Thanks to generous students, faculty and staff at SCC, along with the Surry Sunrise Rotary Club, the SCC Rotaract Club collected almost 650 canned food items and $305 in monetary donations. The goods were dropped off at the Salvation Army before Christmas in hopes of making the holiday season brighter for those in need.

The SCC Rotaract Club is focused on serving others along with professional development for its members and is open for any SCC students ages 18 through 30. The club meets twice a month. For additional information on the SCC Rotaract Club, or to express an interest in joining, contact Accounting Instructor Tara Carrington, who serves as the club’s advisor, at 336-386-3294 or [email protected]
