James Otha “Jimbo” Smith II, age 61 of Jonesville, fought a good fight, finished his course and kept his faith, as he went to be with his Lord Sunday evening, December 30th, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 31, 1951 in Surry County to James Otha Smith and Magdalene Martin Smith.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He was a faithful servant of God and reached out to all those around him. He faithfully attended Trinity Christian Center of Elkin with his family. He enjoyed his many years of volunteer work at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center where he developed many special relationships with the residents and other volunteers. A few of Jim’s special friends were Dwight, Roger, Michael, Paul, Retha, and Carolyn.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Judy Anderson Smith; daughters Shannon (Nathan) Street of Asheboro, Jessica Smith of the home, and Bethany (Graylon) Spicer of Jonesville; one granddaughter, Kenzi Elizabeth Spicer; sisters Jenny Case (Bobby Brooks) of Jonesville, Kathy (Dickey) Billings of Elkin; brother-in-law Nicky Wagoner of Jonesville; sister-in-law Carolyn (Wayne) Hall of State Road; one uncle Chudy (Colleen) Martin of Sanford; two special aunts Fuzzy Webster of Jonesville and Irene Zimmerman of Winston-Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Wagoner, and brother Marty Smith.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2 pm at Jonesville United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Troy Wilhelm and Rev. Bobby Prevette. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jim Smith Memorial Fund care of Shannon Street at PO Box 261 Asheboro, NC 27204.

The family would like to give special thanks to Brenda and Pat of Yadkin Valley Home Health for the love and care that was given to Mr. Smith.
