Santa Claus is coming to town.

The jolly St. Nick will attend a meet and greet for children on Friday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Fairfiled Inn & Suites in Elkin.

It’s all part of the Celebrating the Magic of Christmas 2012 Winter Wine and Craft Festival that runs through Saturday evening.

The venue is open to the public, especially families with children.

Christmas portraits with Santa will be available by Susie Robinson of Shutterbug Photography.

“It’s the perfect opportunity for families to take photos with Santa and drink some hot chocolate, and maybe share with Santa what they want for Christmas,” said Fairfield General Manager Michael Wilson.

Transformation for the event by the hotel started on November 1st with interior decorations, but planning for the event started months ago,” said Fairfield Sales Director Casey Waddell. “Today, dozens of trees are on display in the hotel lobby and everyone here has that Christmas feeling.

“We’re also pretty excited about having Mrs. Claus this year,” continued Waddell. “Mrs. Claus is coming with baked cookies and will be reading Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

On Saturday, Dec. 8, 14 craft vendors, and 9 vineyards will showcase products at the Fairfield Inn.

“There will be lots of Christmas items for sale and great stocking stuffers,” said Wilson. “We’ll have vendors selling hand blown glass, puppets, trinkets, and other items from local businesses.”

Wine tasting requires a valid ID to enter and a tasting fee of $5.00 per person.

The Winter Wine and Craft Festival was started by the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce in 2007. The Fairfield Inn & Suites has kept the event as a community tradition.

Saturday festivities start at 12:30 p.m. and will conclude at 7 p.m. For additional information, please call the Fairfield Inn & Suites at (336) 353-2008.
