Friends of Jonesville Library to hold Silent Auction

The Friends of the Jonesville Library will be holding a Silent Auction from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 16.

The auction will take place at the Jonesville Elementary School Multipurpose Room at 101 Cedarbrook Road, Jonesville. All proceeds will go to the Library Building Fund. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Auction items will include passes to Chimney Rock, autographed celebrity photos and books, home decor, N.C. Zoo tickets, Charlotte Bobcat ticket packages, tickets to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and tickets to N.C. State men’s basketball non-conference games. ‘Raising the Woof’

Embrace the Dog Days of summer at "Raising the Woof!" Elkin's favorite dog carnival. Dogs and their owners will the corner of Market and Bridget Street, across from the Habitat Home Shoppe at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, for the competition's kickoff. The event is sponsored by Becky's Pet Grooming and The Doggie Depot. Prizes will be awarded to pooches in the following categories: best trick, best mannered, largest, smallest, best dressed and dog/owner look-alike. There will be goody bags for all dogs, door prizes, refreshments and balloons. The cost is $10 per dog. Registration forms can be picked up at Habitat Home Shoppe, 102 E. Market St., Elkin, and at the event. Proceeds will benefit Upper Yadkin Valley Habitat for Humanity's Housing Ministry.
