New Year's Day has come and gone, and some readers may be wondering where the picture and information are of the 2010 New Year baby that is usually published during the first week of the year.

Finally, The Tribune is pleased to announce that this year there are two New Year babies instead of one.

Premature twins born at 34 weeks, Lenzie Alajah and Lexie Akeela Royall, were born at 1:50 and 2:03 a.m. respectively on Jan. 1.

Their proud mother is Connie Royall of Jonesville.

The girls were born at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital but were transferred to Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem not long afterward.

Lenzie weighed in at five pounds, two ounces and Lexie at four pounds, two ounces.

Both coincidentally measured 17 1/4 inches long.

According to Mom, Lexie was scheduled to come home this past Saturday and Lenzie should follow early this week.

The twins' brothers and sisters are eager to meet them.

They haven't been able to see them yet, as no one under the age of 18 is permitted in many hospitals in an effort to inhibit the spreading of the flu.

Lexie and Lenzie's siblings are Nichole Hutchens, 16, MacKenzie Hutchens, 13, Holly Royall, 9, Stevie Royall, 7 and Luke Royall, age 5.

The oldest child, Nichole, who drove her mom to Hugh Chatham to deliver, got to briefly see the babies before they were transferred to Brenner.

Connie Royall would like to mention how much she appreciates the help of her sister, Ashley Church.

"Shes's been a big help, she's my right hand," said Royall.
