Ronda is considering six options for its new town seal.

Mayor Victor Varela and the Board of Commissioners handed six options for consideration to the audience at last week’s town hall meeting.

The designs were drawn by Wilkes Community College students and teachers. Varela said the school did not specify which design was by a student and which was by a teacher, in order to ensure each was given a fair evaluation.

One includes a seal design with the house in the center, and another one depicts two people canoeing.

The elaborately painted white house is a staple of Ronda, overlooking Clingman Road as one crosses over the Yadkin River heading south away from town. However, as Mayor Varela pointed out at the town hall meeting, the house does not stand inside town limits.

The other seal mentioned specifically in the meeting was of the two people in the canoe. Mayor Varela said this was his favorite because it depicted the river access Ronda has, the only put-in or take-out area between Wilkesboro and Elkin.
