A section of River Road in Jonesville that has been damaged and eroded by rainwater is slated to be repaired.

Jonesville’s board of commissioners voted Monday to go ahead with a planned repair of the road with an estimated $4,500 in cost.

Carter and Kirk Paving was tapped to handle the project.

The road currently has a washed-out space under the pavement where rainwater has taken out the soil. Commissioners voiced concerns that the weight of buses, garbage trucks, and other vehicles will ultimately cause the road to cave in.

Town Manager Scott Buffkin said the cost was more than he would like to spend on the construction, but he felt Carter and Kirk would be able to do a good job repairing the stretch.

Buffkin added that the contractor had been notified to commence work ASAP.
