Woodruff and Neely wed in Dobson

Kristy Karen Woodruff and PV2 Michael Ethan Neely were married at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Cody Creek Chapel in Dobson by the Reverend Jerry Sparks.
The bride is the daughter of Scott & Karen Woodruff of Elkin. She is the granddaughter of Jim & Jean Davis of East Bend and Ann Woodruff of Elkin and the late Jim Woodruff. She is a 2011 graduate of Elkin High School and she received a certificate in business administration from Surry Community College in May of 2012. Kristy is certified with Dance Masters of America and is a dance instructor at Rhythm on Main Dance Academy in Elkin, a Mary-Kay Beauty consultant and also does in-home care.
The groom is the son of Howie and Sherry Neely of Ronda. He is the grandson of Shelby Neely of Ronda and the late Howard Neely and the late Houston and Mary Taylor. He is a 2009 graduate of East Wilkes High School, and a member of the Army National Guard of Charlotte. He graduated basic training from Fort Sill, OK in May 2012 and from AIT at Fort Gordon, GA in August 2012. Ethan is a member of the CC Camp VFD and also serves as a first responder. He is employed by Weyerhaeuser in Elkin.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a lovely white David’s Bridal wedding gown with jewelry and wedding veil from Carol’s Wedding Shop. The matron of honor was Amanda Prevette of Windy Gap. The bridesmaids were Casey Billings of Elkin, Sydney Carter of Elkin and Stephanie Rash, sister of the groom, of Ronda. The flower girls were Alyssa Davis, cousin of the bride of Jonesville, Sydney Davis, also cousin of the bride of Elkin and Cheyenne Taylor, niece of the groom of Ronda. The junior bride was Haley Jones, cousin of the bride of East Bend.
The best man was the father of the groom, Howie Neely. The ushers and groomsmen were Davis Woodruff, brother of the bride of Winston-Salem, Luke Martin of Elkin and Charles Prevette of Windy Gap.
Lindsey Gouge, a dance student and dear friend of Kristy’s was the program and guest register attendant at the wedding. Jamie Davis, uncle of the bride, ran the sound system for the wedding ceremony and announced the wedding party as they arrived at the wedding reception.
The special music presented during the wedding was by Daniel Rash, brother in law of the groom who played the guitar for his wife, the soloist, Stephanie Rash, sister of the groom. She sang “When I Say I Do” during the wedding ceremony. The wedding was directed by Teresa Sparks and assisted by Donna Davis.
A reception hosted by the bride’s parents was held following the wedding at Friendship Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Elkin. The reception was catered by Jim & Christine Stuller and their daughter Amy Cave. The wedding cake was a beautiful four tiered white square cake topped with two silver hearts, decorated with Malibu blue ribbon and Gerber daisies placed between the tiers to match the bride’s bouquet. The cake was prepared by Amanda Lytton and Donna Davis, aunt of the bride.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at The Depot in Dobson.
The couple was honored with a shower for the future “Mr & Mrs” given by the families of the bride and the groom on Sunday afternoon, August 26, 2012 at the Friendship Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Elkin. The Senior Adult Ladies Class of Friendship Baptist Church also hosted a bridal shower for the couple on Sunday, August 12, 2012.
The photographer was Amy Sizemore of Mi-Mi’s Photography of Yadkinville. Videographer was David Owens of V.I.P. Video Productions of Mocksville. The wedding planners were Jamie Woodruff and Donna Davis, both aunts of the bride and both of Elkin.
Following a honeymoon trip to Gatlinburg, the couple is residing in Elkin.
