The Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Ambassadors Club recognized the Comfort Inn of Jonesville as the January Member of the Month.

The YVCC Board of Directors Chair-Elect Jerry Stroud brought the Ambassadors into the newly renovated lobby, where they surprised Comfort Inn’s General Manager Vanessa Caudill with the award sign and blue balloons.

“This is our way of thanking you for supporting the Chamber and our community. I am unsure if anyone on this staff, especially you Vanessa, know the word ‘No.’ Any time you are asked to give to the Chamber the answer is always ‘Yes.’ The dozens of hours that you and the staff have donated to the Pumpkin Festival and the Wine Festival have not gone unnoticed and are very much appreciated. You are always quick with a platter of cookies or a case of water anytime we ask, and always with a smile,” said Stroud.

Stroud said he also wanted to recognize all that Caudill and her staff do for the Jonesville Tourism Development Authority.

“It’s a lot more than just collecting taxes. We appreciate the hours you spend attending monthly meetings, helping guide the TDA’s marketing efforts to put Jonesville on the map and even supplying free rooms for TDA sponsored events to help defray the costs.”

The Tri-County Christian Crisis Ministry, known as the Tri-Cs, also benefits from the Comfort Inn’s giving spirit, he said.

“Your sponsorship of the food drive made sure our community members in need would not go hungry,” said Stroud.

While presenting the award to Caudill in the newly renovated lobby, Stroud said that he would be remiss if he didn’t mention the wonderful million dollar renovation to the hotel.

“That type of investment is exactly what Jonesville needs to continue to grow its economy,” said Stroud.

Caudill led the group on a tour of the hotel. She said that the Comfort Inn was an innovator in providing breakfasts for guests before most hotels adopted the idea, and she added that the new breakfast area layout has a better flow for the guests.

She then led the group to the indoor pool and whirlpool area where renovations are ongoing. She noted that the pool remains open while the work is being done. One of the things that surprised Ambassador Erica Johnson was that the pool, patio and meeting room can be rented for birthday parties, church groups and others. She said the rent is typically $75 to $100 for about four hours.

She then took the group to see one of the guest rooms. She explained that everything from the new larger marble vanities, to the new furniture, including new beds and flat screen TVs provide guests with a home away from home.

She concluded the tour by saying that her staff goes above and beyond to make the guests feel truly welcome.

“It’s our service that sets us apart,” said Caudill.
