Jonesville residents charged with starving animals
Two Jonesville residents were arrested on charges of felony kill animal by starvation.
Rose Anna Hagler, 38, of Jonesville was arrested on Jan. 11 and charged with four counts, and Zealous Bernard Hagler, 60, of Jonesville was arrested on Jan. 27 and charged with three counts.
An anonymous caller contacted the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office in reference to observing two dead dogs in a kennel behind a residence in Jonesville. With the aid of Yadkin County Animal Control, the deputies discovered other animals that were deceased and some obviously emaciated.
Rose Hagler was set with a $20,200 secured bond and Zealous Hagler was set with an unsecured $50,000 bond.
Abigail Gonzalez Lopez, 51, of Yadkinville, was charged on Jan. 30 by detectives with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office for one count of felony killing an animal by starvation and one count animal cruelty.
He received a $5,000 secured bond.
An anonymous person called Yadkin County Animal Control to check on two mixed pit bull dogs. Animal control officials reported that one of the dogs was very sick and the other was very malnourished. The dogs were seized in exigent circumstances by officers. One dog had to be euthanized.
