Joseph R. Austell, a resident of Elkin for many years and a retired Lt Col in the USAF, passed away in Palm Coast, Florida, on January 10, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Frances J. Austell, two daughters, Susan Wrigley and Cynthia Austell, and one granddaughter, Andrea Levy.
