Mr. Hugh G. Salmons, 96, died Oct. 19, 2012 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mr. Salmons was born in Winston Salem, Sept 30, 1916 to Dr. Leroy and Carrie Bell Salmons. Graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School and attended The Citadel. He was a veteran of U.S. Army . He retired from Chatham Mfg. Co. in 1970. And was a member of First Baptist Church where served as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Three brothers, Lee, Bill and Ed Salmons and a sister Carolyn Vaughn.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty nine years, Catherine Whitener Salmons. Three daughters ; Carol (Kenneth) Falls of Gastonia; Cathy(Bob) Fergen of Raleigh and Margaret Jukes of Elkin. He was adoringly called Honey by his seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted by Dr. Rick Bennett and Dr. Bill Johnson at 10:00 a.m. Monday Oct. 22, 2012 at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston Salem with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Elkin. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

The family suggests that any memorials be made to First Baptist Church, P.O box 618, Elkin, NC 28621. Or Mountain Valley Hospice 688 N. Bridge St., Elkin, NC 28621

John Kennedy, funeral director is assisting the Salmons family with funeral arrangements.
