The Town of Elkin has switched its phone system and now has new phone numbers.

“Our current phone lines were getting antiquated and started having issues. The lines would go down and then we would have to reset,” said Town Manager Lloyd Payne. “It took time and was a hassle to deal with, so I started looking at and pricing new phones.”

Town Hall will be using voice over Internet phone system rather than the traditional analogue phone line, Payne said.

The old 835-9800 will still be in use until mid-October but will be disconnected after that. Callers who use the old number will be directed to the new lines.
