Leonard E. Brown, “Brownie,” 88, of Elkin passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

Mr. Brown was born in Burksville, Kentucky on March 3, 1924, to the late Porter and Allie Brown, he served in the United States Army and was a World War II Veteran, and a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by five brother, two sisters, grandchildren, Shawn Williams, Jason Galehouse, and Amanda Galehouse, also a special nephew, John Henderson.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Judy Sprague Brown of the home, children, Robert Scott Galehouse of Elkin, Pam Williams and husband Jim of, Venice Florida, Debbie Lynn Hunt and husband Gordon of Wappingers Falls , New York, Ronnie Brown of Port Charlotte , Florida, Billy Galehouse and wife Ruby of North Port, Florida, Linda Hernandez of Indianapolis, sisters, Betty Cross of St. Pete, Florida, and Ann Bump of Kentucky. Grandchildren, Jeremy Galehouse, Krista Gwyn, Andrew Galehouse, Joshua Galehouse, Jessica Galehouse, Kasey Leigh Sneed and husband Cory, Kylie Ann Hunt, and Taylor Jean Hunt, Adom Hernandez, also twelve great-grandchidlren and several loving nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, 5:00 p.m., Sept. 28, 2012, at Cool Springs Baptist Church, by Rev. David Key and Yadkin VFW post 10346.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cool Springs Baptist Church or Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Johnson Funeral Home of Elkin is serving the family of Mr. Leonard Brown.
