Current and prospective business owners in Jonesville (including the extended 28642 area on highways 21, 67, Swan Creek and Bethel Roads, etc.) are invited to attend an organizational meeting on Thursday, Aug. 16, 5:30 p.m., at the Jonesville Welcome Center.
Bobby Todd, Director of the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce, will discuss how his organization has assisted similar associations in Boonville and Yadkinville. Todd will share how the Yadkin Chamber can assist Jonesville businesses gain access to economic development programs, grant sources, leadership and marketing training, jobs and business centers.
The Association will be open to current and prospective businesses, including home-based businesses, locally-owned Internet businesses and privately-owned commercial/residential rental properties within Jonesville (28642). Community agencies and organizations, churches and clubs, are also invited to join.
Antique Mall owner Marty Adams said, “We must work together to highlight our businesses and our community. We need to become a deliberate stop on I-77, a destination for travelers and tourists to stay in our hotels, to dine in our restaurants, to service their vehicles, to browse and shop in our retail stores and malls. If we don’t promote ourselves we’ll become another exit on the Interstate.”
In addition to electing officers at a follow-up meeting, the Association will begin to compile a directory of participating businesses, community organizations and agencies, churches, recreation and tourist attractions. A free community newsletter will highlight unique businesses, personalities and a local calendar. Members will be encouraged to coordinate sales and community promotions.
