A new boutique, String of Pearls, opened in downtown Elkin a week ago.
“We had several customers our first day,” said owner Rebecca Billings. “Everyone has given positive feedback.”
The new clothing store features new and gently used designer clothing, jewelry, pocketbooks and shoes.
“It’s not a thrift store or consignment shop,” Billings said. “It is high quality clothing at a lower price.”
Billings, originally from Alleghany and now living in Wilkesboro, previously owned gift shops in Roaring Gap and West Jefferson.
“I decided to open a business in downtown Elkin, because the area has a lot of charm,” she said. “I like the downtown and feel like this type of shop is needed.”
String of Pearls will be located at 122 West Main St. The store will be opening this summer in the former Yadkin Valley Craft Guild. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Visit their website, www.stringofpearlsfashion.com, or call 977-2529.
