PILOT MOUNTAIN - The Armfield Civic Center Dolphins capped the 2012 summer season with a fourth-place finish at the Tri-County Swimming Finals in Pilot Mountain on Saturday.

The Dolphins coached by Grant Simmons, Leah Tunstall, and Ashley Horn finished the seven-team meet with 642 total points.

The Dolphins had several individuals that captured overall medals. Avery Tucker placed first overall in the 10 & under girls division, while Julie Hicks and Hadly Tucker took second and fifth overall, respectively.

In the 12 & under girls, Sydney Beck finished first with Mikayla Custer coming in fourth. For the 14 & under girls division, Armfield’s Ashley Hicks captured first overall while teammate Kelsey Tunstall tied for 3rd overall.

Katherine Martin took fifth place overall in the 18 & under girls division, while Christopher Holshouser claimed fourth place in the 18 & under boys division for the Dolphins.

Armfield also earned several honors in relay events. The 10 & under girls 100 meter freestyle team of Julie Hicks, Gracie Pruitt, Hadly Tucker and Avery Tucker captured a gold medal, while the 10 & under girls 100 meter medley team of Hicks, Pruitt, Avery Tucker and Alyssa Custer earned gold as well.

The Dolphins team of Sydney Beck, Olivia Dunning, Mikayla Custer and Anne-Louise Tunstall finished with a silver medal in the 12 & under girls 200 meter freestyle relay and the 200 meter medley relay.

In the 14 & under girls 200 meter freestyle relay, the duo of Ashley Hicks and Kelsey Tunstall earned a silver medal, while capturing a gold medal in the 200 meter medley relay. In addition, the Dolphins trio of Katelynn Custer, Katherine Martin and Kayla Simmons took bronze in the 18 & under girls 200 meter medley relay.

The Long Creek Stingrays captured their tenth-consecutive overall championship with 1,650 points while the Chadwyck Flyers finished second with 927 points. The Kernersville Riptyde took third place with a total of 647.5 points.
