Details: An officer noticed a Pepsi Drink Vending Machine to be out of order at the Winebarger Ford, according to an Elkin Police Report. The officer inspected closer and noticed the paper currency receptacle was broken. Case under further investigation.
Charge: Larceny of Jewelry

Where: 200 block of Brookwood Dr., Elkin
Items stolen: $500 gold nugget men’s wedding band 14k gold, $800 Men’s dress watch gold w/ white face, $1,700 1 ct men’s diamond in women’s setting and $300 man’s gold ring 14 k.
Details: The man notified the police that jewelry went missing while he was out of town, according to and Elkin Police report. He said his daughter had friends over and several items were missing from his parent’s jewelry box. The daughter said all of her friends denied taking anything, according to the report. The total amount of jewelry taken was $3,300. Case under further investigation
Charge: Possession of drug paraphernalia, intoxicated and disruptive

Where: 1500 block of North Bridge St., Elkin
Details: An officer found a man lying in the parking lot of Wells Fargo Bank who appeared to be intoxicated, according an Elkin Police report. The man had trouble answering questions about his address and where he had been, according to the report. When the officer searched the man for weapons, he found a metal pipe and an empty plastic bag; both smelled like marijuana. The man submitted an breathalyzer test which registered as .21, which is under the legal limit for the Surry County Jail, according to the report. The man was given a citation and officers found the man a ride, according to the report. Case closed.
