Guests and public alike can enjoy a taste of local wine on Friday nights at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Elkin.

Free wine tastings are being held every Friday night through Aug. 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring a different local vineyard each Friday. An assortment of local vineyards’ wines are also available for purchase.

“The vineyards come and pour their wine and explain to guests what type of wine it is,” said Casey Waddell, director of sales at Elkin’s Fairfield Inn and Suites.

Waddell said the wine tastings usually generate a crowd of approximately 50 to 60 people, including hotel guests and general public.

This Friday’s wine tasting will feature Laurel Gray Vineyard’s wine. Next Friday’s tasting will feature Carolina Heritage Vineyard & Winery, followed by McRitchie Winery and Ciderworks.

“We have done it the past two summers, and it has gone really well,” Waddell said. “We are looking forward to doing it again next year.”
