ELKIN - The Buckin’ Elks continued their hot start to the 2012 season with a third-straight win over Mountain Valley Conference opponents.

Elkin knocked off Wilkes Central Thursday night to improve their record to 3-0 on the young season.

Tyler Macy and David Bullins breezed past their opponents 6-1, 6-1 to pick up two victories for the Elks, while Ryan Schell added a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Jesse Massucco.

Jeremiah Morrison and Andrew Peterson tacked on two more wins for Elkin, but did so in extra sets.

Morrison topped Evan Day 6-1, 6-7 (4), 10-8 for the W before Peterson dropped Kartick Patel 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.

The Eagles managed to win one singles match when Steven Furr knocked off Ashton Gant 6-4, 6-3, but it wasn’t enough as the Elks picked up their third win of the year.

The teams were unable to play doubles due to darkness.

Elkin returns to the court tonight against cross-town rival Starmount in Boonville. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
