The Fairfield Inn and Suites in Elkin won several awards for its outstanding service and contributions to the community and guests. On Wednesday morning, Fairfield’s staff and managers got together in the lobby for a group picture to celebrate their accomplishments for the year.

“I just got back from the Marriot Award Ceremony in Washington D.C., and we have won the Bill Marriot Chairman’s Award six consecutive years in a row,” said General and Regional Manager Michael Wilson, who has been with Riverview Holdings, the company which owns and operates Fairfield, for more than 20 years. “It was a great meeting.”

The Fairfield Inn in Elkin won number one in breakfast service, room cleanliness, elite appreciation, and for providing a stress-free environment. It also won the Platinum and Chairman’s award for its outstanding service. Marriot does an email survey called the Guest Satisfaction Survey (GSS) for guests who have stayed at the hotel. The Fairfield Inn and Suites in Elkin was rated number one on the Chairman’s award out of all the Fairfield Inn and Suites in existence. The Chairman’s award only goes to one hotel out of the entire system.

“It has been quite an accomplishment,” said Wilson.

Fairfield Inn has 40 employees working seasonal, full-time, and part-time.

The local hotel has 80 rooms, a mineral pool and spa, an indoor pool, a 24-hour fitness center, and several meeting spaces. The Fairfield Inn is also the meeting place for several local organizations and groups including the Yadkin Valley Rotary Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and other various church and civic groups who meet there on a weekly basis.

The hotel opened in August of 2008 and several of its employees have stayed aboard since then. Fairfield Inn is owned by Fred Eidson, Ben Mastin, Robert Greene, Jeff Eidson and Amy Tayloe.

Riverview has three other establishments in the area including the Hampton Inn in Jonesville, the Comfort Inn in Jonesville and the Hampton Inn in Marion, as well as various rental properties in the area.

Wilson already is making plans for the Fairfield Inn in the future.

“Our occupancy and business have been good and we’re planning on giving the place a refresh for 2017,” said Wilson. “That will start in the winter months.”

Wilson believes the success has come from its dedication to clientele and the training the employees receive on the job to make sure that guests receive the best experience possible.

“We empower the employees to take care of the customers,” said Wilson. “A lot of our housekeepers have been with us for a long time. People come in for weddings, family reunions, ball teams, and events and groups. We’re not just selling a guest room to our clients. We’re selling our guest experience. Whether they’re here for a winery, a vineyard, or to visit family, we always want to accommodate our guests. If you take care of the customer, the customer’s going to come back. Even though we’re a franchise of Marriott, it’s a culture here with the people.”

Fairfield Inn & Suites is located at 628 CC Camp Road just off of I-77.
