The Elkin Middle School Jr. Beta Club will present the Patrol the Trails Bike Dedication Ceremony, taking place at the trailhead located at the Elkin Municipal Park on March 20 at 1 p.m.
The students of Elkin Middle School Jr. Beta Club dedicated their annual service project to the purchase of a police patrol bicycle. The Elkin Police Department will now have the ability to patrol the dirt trails in and around Elkin in cases of emergency and normal day-to-day patrols. The Jr. Beta Club is honored to present this to the Elkin Police Department.
As a result of various fundraisers throughout the fall of 2016, the EMS Jr. Beta Club has raised enough money to purchase the patrol bike. In collaboration with Downtown BMX of Elkin, an official police patrol bicycle was purchased along with the appropriate bags, lights and sirens. During the dedication, EMS Jr. Beta Club representatives will present the original proposal for the service project that was presented at a leadership summit late last year. The EMS Jr. Beta Club invites the public to participate in this celebration and dedication ceremony.
According to Elkin Police Chief Monroe Wagoner, about the importance of the patrol bike, “The police bike will allow officers to patrol Elkin trails in a timely manner providing a better response to the needs of the citizens and the town.”
