The East Wilkes boys will try to avenge their loss to Forbush earlier in the season on Wednesday night. The 2015 portion of the season wasn’t great at 2-6, but following Tuesday night, there are still 15 games left to be played.

Conference games continue for the boys and girls basketball teams, and there are some interesting matchups for the week ahead.

Wednesday night, Elkin fans won’t have to travel as they’re home against South Iredell. The girls will be looking to continue their stellar start, where they’ve managed to stay undefeated through the first 11 games. They’ve constantly looked at ways to step up their game, and have been rewarded with wins every time the going got tough.

The Elkin boys have struggled to find their niche so far this season, dropping all 11 games played thus far by double digits. Nine seniors make up the 14-man roster.

East Wilkes has the only other basketball game Wednesday night, traveling to East Bend for a rematch against Forbush. Last time out, the girls were impressive, taking down the Falcons 53-36 at home. Forbush would go on to win its next four games, closing out 2015 with a win in the Grayson National Bank Holiday Classic. East Wilkes is looking to rebound after dropping two straight to East Forsyth and R.J. Reynolds. They played conference rival Starmount on Tuesday night.

All the basketball teams are on tap Friday night, all at home, and all against conference rivals. The Elkin girls will be challenged by North Wilkes, who also has started out the year undefeated. East Wilkes hosts Ashe County, while Starmount hosts West Wilkes.
