RONDA — A bit of fire power was added to the Milligan Buffaloes’ softball roster for 2017, and it comes in the form of an East Wilkes senior.
Catcher and power hitter Caitlyn Macemore recently signed with the Milligan College softball team, and for the Buffaloes, it’s an absolute steal. Macemore is poised to make the all-district, all-state, and all-conference team for the third straight year as a member of the East Wilkes Cardinals. A softball player for the past eight years, a large portion of Macemore’s decision, she said, was decided by her faith.
“I chose this school because of its Christian community and the tight-knit relationships that will be formed,” Macemore said.
Macemore’s favorite moment as a member of the Cardinals, for any East Wilkes fan, should be obvious. Macemore hit four home runs in three games during the conference tournament last season en route to a second place finish. Macemore also emerged as a leader of the volleyball team this past season, and was named an honorable mention for the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.
“East Wilkes has provided me with great coaches and teammates that have pushed me and made my love for the game grow,” Macemore said.
“We’re excited to add Caitlyn to our 2016 recruiting class,” Milligan Head Coach Wes Holly said. “She brings a wealth of talent and experience to our program, and we are looking for big things from her and an immediate impact to our team.”
Macemore will be looking for another big season when the season begins in March. Macemore plans to major in occupational therapy.
