Elkin High School basketball teams took to the court Friday night, with the girls varsity defeating North Stokes 52-30 and the boys falling 49-39.

The girls pulled out to a 31-19 lead at halftime and continued to pull away in the second half. There’s still plenty for the team to improve on, shooting 33-percent overall. Their next match is Nov. 30 at home against West Stokes.

The boys struggled to find the net as well, and unlike the girls, were not as fortunate. Their next game is Wednesday night at home against South Iredell at 8 p.m, although the girls will not be playing. The boys and girls teams will play together on the same court again during the West Stokes game. Following that game, they’ll hit the road against North Stokes the following night.
