Elkin defeats feisty Starmount 9-0

Elkin’s Miracle Walters found herself down 5-4 in the first set of her singles match. She responded by winning her next nine points for a 7-5, 6-0 win as the Lady Elks defeated Starmount Tuesday afternoon.

Starmount put up a challenge in Tuesday afternoon’s tennis match against Elkin, but in the end, it was the Lady Elks who emerged victorious.

Elkin defeated Starmount 9-0 at home, but despite getting the shutout, it was a battle through the end. Elkin’s No. 1 Miracle Walters found herself down 5-4 in the first set, before winning 7-5 in the first set. She capped it off with a 6-0 win the next set to win her match.

Elkin’s Morgan Randleman also had a tight match, winning 7-5, 6-3. Elkin’s 3-6 seeds as well as their doubles teams played to dominant form to ice it. Elkin moves to 7-0 on the season, and will play 2-6 Wilkes Central on Thursday at Elkin at 4:30.
