Elkin tennis earns 6-3 win

The Elkin women’s tennis team defeated West Wilkes on Monday night. The Elks continued their winning streak with a 6-3 win.

In singles matches, the Elks won every match but one. Elkin’s Mattie Timmerman defeated her opponent with a score of 6-2 and 6-0, while Kenley Wells defeated her opponent 7-6, and 6-1. The lone loss in the singles matches was a hard fought match as Elkin’s Sydney Kelly fought for three sets before falling to Erin Shelton.

In doubles, the lone Elkin win was courtesy of Timmerman and Bianka Soos, who defeated their opponents, 8-4. Full results from the West Wilkes match are listed below.

Elkin’s overall record moves to 10-3. Next match was Tuesday at East Wilkes. Results were not available by press deadline.
