The Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce held its annual golf tournament on Thursday afternoon, with golfers of all ages coming out to test their golf skills.

With the temperature forecasted in the high 90s and storms brewing in the west, it didn’t stop the participants from coming out and enjoying some time on the links. Thirteen teams made their way through the course to have a bit of fun while also supporting the YVCC.

The Championship Flight championship went to the winning team of Steve Owings, James Owings, Matt Matthews and Jay Callahan. They shot a 60 on the 72-par course.

The First Flight championship was awarded to the team of Van Shore, Jack Crissman, Fleming Crissman and Rick Foster as they shot a 59 for the day.

Don Trippel, Lee Powe, Warren Bates and Rick Thompson made up the Second Flight championship team with a score of 59.

Although the tournament’s main function was to bring people together to have fun, the tournament has a bigger cause as the porceeds benefit the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce by funding local events in the Yadkin Valley area.
