They did not throw their friend Bobby Colbert in the lake, but that didn’t stop Gary Colbert, Kasias Stanley, and Matthew Colbert from having fun during the YVCC golf tournament at Cedarbrook Country Club Thursday afternoon.

Kyle Young, James St. Cyr, Ken Reel, and Chris Cartwright took home the First Flight championship in style, listening to the Zac Brown Band in the golf cart rides from hole-to-hole.

The Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce held its annual golf tournament Thursday afternoon, and golfers both young and old hit the links for some summer fun.

The weather could not have been better at the Cedarbrook Country Club, where golfers got to show their appreciation to the YVCC while also going for the elusive hole-in-one.

Golfers were separated into foursomes into three categories based on skill level, with golfers playing from the best shot out of the four in each group. While there were no aces on the course, there were plenty of good shots by all.

Ultimately, the tournament’s goal as always was to have fun on the course regardless of the score, however each category did have its champion.

Van Shore, Nicholas Gunnel, David Steelman, and David Poindexter took home the trophies in the championship category, shooting a 56 on the par 72 course.

James St. Cyr, Chris Cartwright, Ken Reel, and Kyle Young shot a 59 on the day for the First Flight championship, while Thomas Comer, Johnny Hunter, Bobby Jones, and Matt Eldridge shot a 62 for the Second Flight championship.
