BOONVILLE — The Starmount Lady Rams cruised to a 9-0 victory by the hat trick of Diana Flores over the Lady Trojans of Alleghany on Wednesday in Boonville.
Flores scored the first two goals for a 2-0 lead with 34:33 remaining in the half. Isabel Najera scored two minutes later, while Flores would pick up her hat trick at the 29:20 mark to give the Rams a 4-0 lead. Emily Mendenhall then scored back-to-back goals for the Lady Rams to push the lead to 6-0. Amber Hurst scored an unassisted goal with 27:12 remaining for a 7-0 lead.
Two Lady Rams broke into the scoring column for the first time as Jeymi Garcia scored with 4:02 remaining and then Daniela Murguia scored off the assist of Jennifer Carranza with 2:45 remaining in the first half for the final 9-0 margin of victory for the Lady Rams.
“Everyone again got to play and see additional minutes in other than their normal positions,” said Coach Dale Draughn. “[Starmount] had two girls break into the scoring column for the first time tonight and we had several others who had shots on goal but could not get it in the back of the net.”
The win improves the Lady Rams overall to 9-6 and gives them a conference record of 5-4. The Lady Rams return to action on Friday when they host East Wilkes, weather permitting.
Dale Draughn is the head coach of the Starmount Lady Rams soccer team.
