Ongoing: 10:15 a.m-Book Babies with Miss Wendy will be at the Elkin Public Library on Thursdays. Featuring stories & songs for you and your baby. The program last for 20-25 minutes. Age 0-24 months and their caregiver.

Children’s Story Hours: The Elkin Public Library • 10:15 a.m. Fridays is Story Hour for 2 and 3 year olds • 11:15 a.m. Fridays is Story Hour for 4 and 5 year olds

Ongoing: The Yadkin Valley Senior Center & Jonesville Nutrition site, serves lunch everyday Monday – Friday at 11:30 a.m. Many activities are planned daily, bingo, coupon swap, quilting, sewing, mental health games, prayer shawls, blood pressure check, scrap booking, crossword puzzles, Zumba, Tai Chi, ENP Shopping, Fire Safety, Etc. Ongoing: Thursdays at 10:30, Boonville Community Public Library will have Preschool storytime for ages 2-5 year olds. This will consist of stories, songs, and crafts. Call 367-7737.

Ongoing: 6.p.m every third Tuesday of every month The American Business Women’s Association(ABWA)-Carolina Tri-Way Charter Chapter meets at Matty’s restaurant in Elkin on North Bridge Street. The ABWA brings together business women of diverse occupations and provides opportunities to grow personally & professionally through leadership, education, networking & national recognition. Oct. 21 at 2:00 p.m. Meet at Lower Lot Display Case with a ranger to learn about the Signs of Fall.

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Unlocking the mysteries of medicare prescription drug plans will be at the Elkin Center of Surry Community College. Each participant will receive a key for a chance to unlock the treasure chest. Call to register seats are limited 401-8025. Free food and fun, fellowship for everyone.

5:00 pm. -7:00 p.m. The Foothills Arts Council at 129 Church St. will have a Chamber Business after hours. Call 835-2025.

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Unlocking the mysteries of medicare prescription drug plans will be at the Human Services Building, off Hwy 601 in the old Lowe’s Hardware Building in Mt. Airy. Each participant will receive a key for a chance to unlock the treasure chest. Call to register seats are limited 401-8025. Free food and fun, fellowship for everyone.

8:00 p.m. The Reeves Theatre in Downtown Elkin will present In The Raw, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. $5.00 admission. Cash prizes for the best costume.

Oct 20 – 25-26-31 The Reeves Theatre Downtown Elkin will have will have Haunted Theatre. $5.00 admission. All proceeds go to benefit the restoration of the Reeves.

2:30 p.m. The Yadkin County Historical society will present a program on the graduates of Yadkin County High School, 1943 – 1967 at the Yadkin County Senior Center, 207 East Hemlock Street, Yadkinville. For 28 years the Yadkin County High School in Boonville was the only one for students of color. It produced over 400 graduates, Margie Williams of Yadkinville will lead the discussion. The program is free and is open to the public. The Society invites graduates and other people connected to the school to attend and share their school memories. Call 336-849-4138.

Oct. 27

2:00 p.m. Batoween. Meet a ranger at the Visitor Center to discuss the different bats in the park. There will be a craft and kids of all ages are encouraged to wear their own bat costumes. Program is about an hour long.

• 9:00 a.m. & 10:00 a.m. Cruising For Carmen’s Cure, Registration 9:00. Ride at 10:00. Rain Date Nov. 3rd. Join the ride to help out a fellow biker that needs your support. Money will go to pay for medial bills for Carmen Headen who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Starting at Nate’s Place 216 East Elm St, Yadkinville. Ending at Farmers Market at 1141 TN St, Yadkinville. DJ, door prizes, silent auction, food & vendors after the ride, open to the public. $20 for single rider, $30 for double, Vehicles $20. 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Celebration of the exceptional Child, Resource Fair at the Elkin Municipal Park 399 Hwy 268 W., Elkin. The fair and family fun event is sponsored by the Surry County Health and Nutrition Center and Innovative Approaches. Target towards children with special health care need in Surry, Wilkes, Yadkin counties(including Habitat). Special appearances by the Chik-Fil-A cow and the Wendy’s Girl and more. • 4:00 pm. Mountain Park Volunteer Fire Department will host a benefit for the Carrie Elmore Family. Chicken stew and hot dogs at the fire department.

• 9:00 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. The Elkin High School Cheerleaders will have a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at the Elkin High School Grissom Stadium. All proceeds go the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Concessions will be available.

Oct 28

• 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Fall Rabies Clinic at the Yadkin County Animal Shelter at 1141 Tennessee Street, Yadkinville, $10/shot & 1 year vaccination only. Please bring your pet on a leash or in a carrier. Pets must be 3 months of age. If your pet is getting the 3 year vaccine you must bring paperwork to the clinic. Rabies tags ARE NOT proof.
