The Animal Ark of Elkin is making efforts to prevent animals from going hungry during the holidays.
The Animal Ark Veterinary Hospital at 188 Claremont Drive in Elkin is currently sponsoring a holiday food drive for pets and will be donating the proceeds to a local rescue organization.
Members of the Animal Ark Veterinary Hospital say they are hoping to make a difference this holiday season by helping local families in need by collecting donations of dog, cat or bird feed.
“We know that with the economy it’s really hard to feed pets sometimes and so its just nice that we can give back to the community any way we can. Dr. Richard L. Brinegar is a big advocate of helping, and we thought that during Christmas it would be really nice to have a collection for needy pets,” said Roxanne Cann of the Animal Ark.
The Animal Ark will be accepting donations through December. The Animal Ark’s donation box is located in the building’s reception area.
Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m to noon on Saturdays.
