David Loving, CEO of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, has resigned his post after three years to pursue other opportunities, according to a press release.

His resignation is effective May 20, 2013.

The release by Alliant Management Services, which manages Hugh Chatham under an agreement with the hospital board of directors, provided a quote on the Loving departure.

“David has faithfully supported the mission and vision of Hugh Chatham, and we appreciate his dedication to the hospital,” said Chris West, Alliant President.

Loving said he couldn’t comment on his resignation.

Loving became the CEO of the hospital in 2009 after a national search by Alliant after former hospital CEO, Stephen Pennington, departed to become president and CEO of Gadsden Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Ala.

Loving was formerly CEO of Medowview Regional Medical Center in Kentucky from August 2001 through January 2008.

As of press time, neither Board Chairman Michael Stanley or Chris West of Alliant has not returned calls to The Tribune.

Alliant Management Services has appointed Michael Arno as interim CEO. Arno assumed the new post on Monday, May 13.

“We look forward to Michael continuing to strengthen Hugh Chatham’s role as the region’s choice for technology and care,” West said in a statement. “The hospital’s recent recognitions for patient safety and technology advances clearly demonstrate the commitment of every member of the Hugh Chatham family to offer only the highest quality care every day to the residents of the Yadkin Valley communities.”

Loving lives in Elkin with wife, Missy, and they have two children. Since moving to Elkin, the Lovings have integrated themselves and have been involved with community-based organizations and charities throughout Elkin and the Yadkin Valley.

Most recently, David Loving promoted efforts for Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. He also served as chairman for the local March of Dimes walk held in Elkin last month.
