Delicious recipes coming to Elkin with Taste of Home show
by Jessica Pickens
Staff Writer

Do you want to have the possibility of a winning a two-night stay at any Marriott in North America? Or do you want to have the possibility of winning a gift card at a local restaurant?

Is your stomach always growling for new recipes?

The Tribune is hosting the Taste of Home Cooking School on Thursday, Oct. 11 at Elkin High School.

The event will be led by Taste of home specialist, Michele Roberts, teaching the audience seasonal recipes.

The cooking show gets the community involved — not by just being in the audience — but also including them as volunteers. Volunteers range from the Elkin First Baptist Church men and students from the Elkin High School Interact Club to ladies in the Red Hat Club.

A vendor show will be held before the cooking show from 4-6 p.m. in the Dixon Auditorium lobby. The show includes several vendors from the community such as Heaven’s Scent, Pampered Chef and Soyworx.

During the show, attendees will have the chance to receive several prizes, including a two two-night stays at any Marriott in North America, two gift cards at Mazzini’s in Elkin, or a gift card to McGrady’s.

D&J Galaxy is providing the grocery bags and the goody bags.

Following the vendor show is the cooking show at 6:30 p.m. in Dixon Auditorium.

Approximately 100 tickets have been sold so far, and the Tribune still has tickets available at the Tribune office and the Yadkin Ripple and Mount Airy News offices.

General admission tickets are $12 and VIP tickets are $35. VIP tickets include a goody bag and a Taste of Home Cookbook.

For more information about becoming a vendor, volunteer or buying tickets, contact the Tribune office at 336-835-1513.

The Taste of Home cooking show begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, in Dixon Auditorium at Elkin High School. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the vendor show will be at 4 p.m. prior to the show.
