Forbush High’s Caroline Kraft won two first places in the current Yadkin High School juried art show for her photographic work and her fiber work.

She also took home a college scholarship with a $500 cash award from the Yadkin Arts Council.

The High School show is on exhibit at the Yadkin County Public Library on Main Street in Yadkinville through May 29.

Kraft, of East Bend, will enter UNC-Charlotte this fall where she will major in architecture. Her parents are Patrick and Donna Kraft.

The Nancy Mills Davis Scholarship was created by the Yadkin Arts Council in memory of one its founding members, Mrs. Nancy Mill Davis, a sculptor and fiber artist. Davis served as the Executive Director of the Yadkin Arts Council from 1992-1996.

After her passing a memorial scholarship was created in her memory. The scholarship is awarded yearly to seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement in the arts and an exemplary grade point average. Scholarship recipients must be rising college freshmen planning a career in the arts.

School guidance counselors provide applications for the scholarship ti Starmount, Forbush and Early College students.

The Yadkin Arts Council was founded in 1975 to enrich the lives of Yadkin County citizens through the arts. The Council offices are located within the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center at 226 E. Main Street in Yadkinville.
