One man was killed and another injured Thursday morning in a two-car collision on Judsville School Road in Dobson.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was airlifted to a nearby facility.
The wreck occurred at 6:19 a.m Thursday morning at 904 Judsville School Road.
David Jackson Wilmoth, 56, of Dobson was killed in the wreck, which occurred a few miles from his home on Red Hill Creek Road.
The other man, Casey Garrison, was airlifted for further treatment.
John Shelton, director of Emergency Services for Surry County, said the wreck was caused when one vehicle crossed the center line.
“It’s what we call by terms a three-quarter head on collision, where there’s one vehicle across the center line that strikes the other nearly head on,” he said. “We airlifted the passenger of the pickup truck to the trauma center and we pronounced [David] Wilmoth dead on scene.”
Shelton said the N.C. Highway Patrol is still investigating which vehicle crossed the center line.
