ELKIN - After winning their Mountain Valley Conference openers last Friday, the Rams and Elks hit the road tonight in Week Four of the season.

Starmount, coming off a dominating 49-0 victory over Forbush in the Unifi Bowl, travel to Ronda to take on East Wilkes.

Running back Chaston Martin has racked up over 425 yards on the ground in just three games (averaging 12.2 yards a rush) with five touchdowns, and will power Starmount’s offense once again against the Cardinals.

East, looking to bounce back from a 42-20 loss to cross-town rival Elkin last week, can take some positives from the defeat. Dalton Key (133 yards) and Jathan Sales (101) went over the century-mark in rushing, while quarterback Zach West proved he could drive the offense up and down the field.

The Rams sit at 3-0 on the year and are riding a 34-conference game win streak into the matchup, while the Cards are still searching for the first win of the JK Adkins era.

The hot start to the season catapulted Starmount into NC Preps 2A State Rankings at No. 8, after spending a week as an honorable mention.

East hung around with the defending conference champs last season in Boonville, limiting the Rams to just 28 points, but failed to find the endzone.

The Buckin’ Elks, coming off the impressive victory over the Cardinals, travel up the mountain to take on Ashe County tonight.

Signal-caller Josh Strickland accounted for four touchdowns last Friday in his best performance under center, while Jamiles Hayes, Sam Lane, Chris Hudspeth and Kody King all found paydirt for the Elks. The Elkin defense recovered five East fumbles on the flip side of the ball.

Ashe is on the heels of two-straight losses after winning its opener over West Caldwell and sits at 1-2 on the year, while Elkin has already surpassed last season’s win total and boasts a 2-1 mark.

The Huskies limited the Elks to six points in last year’s matchup, winning 28-6.

All games are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. around the Yadkin Valley.
