MOUNT AIRY - The Lady Rams swept another tri-match Saturday in Mount Airy.

Starmount breezed past McMichael in three sets, 25-12, 25-20, 25-16 before coming back to top host North Surry 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.

Against the Greyhounds, North jumped out to a quick 4-1 advantage and lead 14-10 midway through the first set. After Starmount battled back to take a 21-19 lead, North scored six of the last seven points to take the first set.

In the second set, the Rams jumped out to a 15-9 lead before evening the match at one set a piece.

The Greyhounds battled back in the third set, taking a 14-10 advantage halfway through. After the game was tied at 18-18 and 20-all, Starmount finally pulled away to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

The Rams handled a furious opening by North in the fourth set, rebounding from a 4-1 hole and 8-3 hole before taking an 18-15 advantage. Starmount finished the ‘Hounds off 25-20 to win the match 3-1.

Reigning Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year Ashton Gregory lead the charge with a double-double of 20 kills and 10 blocks, while Hunter Welborn added nine kills and four blocks.

Hayley Hartman finished with 10 kills and 21 digs, with Sydney Caudle tacking on 16 digs. Josie Matthews added six kills, five blocks, 23 digs and a perfect 25-for-25 on serves, while Rachel Wagoner was 18-for-18 on her serves.

Against McMichael, Gregory powered Starmount once again, finishing with 10 kills and 10 blocks, while Welborn finished with eight kills.

Hartman added four kills, six service aces and nine digs, while Matthews tacked on 11 digs and four kills.

Erin Barr finished with 59 assists on the afternoon.

Starmount improved to 15-3 on the season with the two wins.

The Lady Rams return to the court with two crucial MVAC matchups this week in Boonville. Starmount takes on Wilkes Central Tuesday night before hosting rival Forbush Thursday.
