Incident: Calls for service

Where: Elkin McDonalds on CC Camp Rd.

Details: Police responded to the Elkin McDonald’s in reference to a 13-year-old boy being stabbed in the finger with a needle syringe, according to an Elkin Police report. The boy was in the restaurant bathroom, reached for toilet paper and was stabbed with a needle syringe that had been placed up in the toilet paper dispenser, according to the report. The needle broke off and was stuck in his finger. The boy was taken to Hugh Chatham Hospital, according to the report.

Incident: Criminal Damage to Property (vandalism)

When reported: July 6, 10:50 a.m.

Where: Foot-Heels Shoe and Boot Repair, Main St. Elkin

Details: Police responded to reported property damage from an attempted breaking and entering by breaking the lock off the back door of Foot-Heels Shoe and Boot Repair, according to a police report. Police spoke with the building owner who said the business owner was on vacation when the incident occurred, according to the report. The building owner said he knew the door was okay the previous morning, because he checked it. Inside the building there was sawdust, but no foot prints indicating anyone had entered. The attempted breaking and entering resulted in $150 worth of damage to the door and door knob.

Incident: Criminal Damage to Property Vandalism

When reported: July 6, 10 a.m.

Where: Dave’s Antique, Main Street, Elkin

Details: The owner of Dave’s Antique’s reported that when he arrived to work on July 3 around 9 a.m. he found a window broken in his store, according to the report. He said he knew the window was fine when he left the store on June 30 at 2 p.m. The owner reported the incident so he could get a new window, according to the report. Case closed.

Charges: Larceny, second degree trespassing

Date: July 5, 2012 7:42 p.m.

Where: Walmart, Elkin

Taken and returned: $336 worth of items

Details: A Walmart employee reported to have seen a man through the store who was concealing merchandise in his pants, according to an Elkin report. Officers stopped Clint Alan Parker, 42, of Jonesville as he was leaving with the concealed items without paying and could see DVDs and other merchandise sticking out of his pants, according to the incident report. When police searched Parker they found a cell phone and charger in the packaging, DVDs, clothing items, a blue tooth headset, bungee cord and a Mountain Dew Drink, according to the report. Officers found a flask on Parker that smelled of alcohol. Parker was transported to Elkin Police Department and placed under a $1,000 secured bond by the magistrate, according to the report. Case closed by arrested.

Incident: Burglary-forced entry

When reported: July 5, 8:30 a.m.

Where: Kennedy Auto, Main St., Elkin

Details: Police responded to Kennedy Auto in reference to an attempted breaking and entering by a suspect using an adjustable wrench to break off the door handle, according to an Elkin Police report. The suspect had used an adjustable wrench causing the door handle twist it to break, according to the report. The incident caused $100 worth of damage, according to the report. Case closed.

Charge: DWI-Alcohol and/or drugs, Inhaling toxic vapors, possession toxic vapor substance

When: July 15, 2012, 12:40 p.m.

Where: North Bridge St., Elkin

Details: Police responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of East Highland Avenue and North Bridge Street and asked who the driver of one vehicle was. The passenger said Dakoda Beiza, 18, of Jonesville, was the driver. Beiza was traveling south on North Bridge Street when he ran off the road to the left and hit a street sign and utility pole, according to the Elkin Police report. When police approached Beiza he seemed restless, couldn’t stand still and his eyes were rapidly moving, according to the report. After police received information about the accident, the passenger told police that he had noticed Beiza inhaling keyboard duster which caused him to temporarily black out and lose control of the vehicle, according to the report. Beiza denied doing any drugs and was agitated when the officer said he was going to perform a field sobriety test on him, the report said. Beiza took three field sobriety tests and then was taken into custody, according to the report. Officers also gathered five cans of keyboard duster that were outside of the vehicle. Beiza was placed under a $2,500 unsecured bond and faces a Sept. 17, trial date.
