MORAVIAN FALLS - Heading into the final stretch of the American Legion baseball season, Wilkes County Post 31 gears up for a last-season surge.
After topping Concord 7-6 Wednesday night, the Patriots hit the road for three games over the weekend to make the postseason push.
Post 31 topped South Rowan Thursday to start a two-game win streak, but that ended quickly in Mooresville on Saturday. Wilkes County was swept in a double-header against Mooresville 66 7-1 and 13-7.
The sweep dropped the Patriots to 5-13 on the year to damper their playoff chances.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, Post 31 needs win in their final two games to have a chance at the postseason. Wilkes will host two home games tonight and Wednesday at Wilkes Central High School.
