Chamber president announces departure for new opportunity

A busy Laurette Leagon sits in her office tending to chamber business. Leagon announced her resignation to the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce earlier.

Laurette Leagon has been the famimilar face of the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce for over 6 years. However, Leagon is stepping down as its president on Feb. 25.

“This e-mail serves to inform you I have resigned my position as President/CEO of the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce,” Leagon stated to the board. “It has been an honor to serve this Chamber for the last six and a half years.”

In an interview with The Tribune, Leagon disclosed that she will begin her new position as President/CEO of the Jacksonville/Onslow Chamber of Commerce.

“Opportunities in a chamber are few and far between,” said a smiling Leagon.

When asked about the next phase for the board, Leagon disclosed that the chamber will be having a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the next steps.

“I’m going to miss Elkin,” said Leagon.
