The work of local artist Anne Gulley will be exhibited at Foothills Arts Council starting Oct. 19.

The exhibit, Mytholog.eyes, will open during Friday’s Art Walk from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Gulley said it will remain on display for a month.

Mytholog.eyes is comprised of several of Gulley’s oil paintings, all of which share a theme of ancient mythology.

“When I started about a year ago, I was thinking about what I had done before, and I had done lots of cows and moons and a whole series where I took snakes that you find smashed on the street, and I incorporated those. I began thinking ‘Moon, cow, snakes,’ and it hit me that all this time I had been painting what are at the beginnings of mythology.”

McRitchie Winery and Ciderworks will be serving wine at the opening of the exhibit Friday evening. There is no admission cost.

The arts council is located at 129 Church Street, Elkin.
