Mrs. Martha Kathleen “Kaye” Holt, 83, of Statesville passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012.

Kaye was born Feb. 19, 1929, in Wilkes County to Gaither Crabbe and Emma Blevins Crabbe. She was a member of Stony Ridge Baptist Church.

Kaye had a generous spirit, loved God, family and many friends, was a wise and thoughtful listener and never raised her voice in anger. She was an avid country music lover and as a child she had dreams of being on the Grand Ole Opry. While Alzheimer’s robbed her of much of who she was in her last years, the essence of “Grandmother” always shined through and touched our lives deeply. We will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Holt and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: her daughter, Sheila Lange and her husband Todd of Statesville; brothers, John Crabbe and his wife June of Winston-Salem and Kenneth Crabbe and his wife Alice of N. Wilkesboro; sister, Bonnie Howard of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Colette Lange, Keaton Lange, and Howie Lange; great granddaughter, Ava Riggsbee; three step daughters; one step son; and eight step grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Sep. 18, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at Stony Ridge Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
