A group representing local businesses in Jonesville made their requests known at yesterday’s Jonesville Tourism Authority meeting.

Judy Wolf, along with Edna Martin, Peggy Eskridge and Becky Wood, asked for money to start a Jonesville Business Alliance for merchants and community organizations in Jonesville.

The group asked for start-up money for printing and postage for newsletters to area businesses and organizations, half the cost of a business directory, and 200 alliance ovals, which was estimated to total $1975.

“Our concern is if we don’t promote our businesses and Jonesville, we’re going to be thrown to the way-side,” said Wolf. “There are two groups in Elkin promoting Elkin, and Jonesville needs the same type of resources, and that’s why we wanted to go forward with the Jonesville Business Alliance.”

Jonesville Tourism Authority did not make a motion to vote on the request.
