Ernest Marvin Martin of Jonesville passed away on April 30, 2011, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was 69.

Mr. Martin was born on Dec. 21, 1941, in West Virginia to the late Marvin and Lottie Martin.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five sisters, Hallie Johnson, Locket Billips, Ella Hagler, Lollie Redmon and Mattie Thomas.

Mr. Martin is survivied by his loving wife, Carolyn Watkins Martin; five children, Ernest N. Martin of Jonesville, Debbie Cowles and husband James of Jonesville, Charles Martin of the home, Christopher Martin of the home, Monika Johnson of North Wilkesboro; eight grandchildren, Christopher Cowles, Ernest Cowles, Chrissa Martin, Lathia Martin, Diane Martin, Hailey Martin, Nicole Martin, Heiskah Martin; two great-grandchildren, X-savior Johnson, Kaydence Johnson; two special friends, John Martin of Jonesville, Chris Antone of Jonesville; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Ronda officiated by Rev. Clyde Moore and Rev. Billie Moore. Burial will follow at Mountlawn Memorial Park in North Wilkesboro. Mr. Martin will lie in state from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service.
