Elkin Little League falls in Final Four

ELKIN - The Elkin Surry County Cal Ripken Little League team fell in the Final Four of the 13-15 year old baseball tournament.

Elkin dropped an 8-5 decision to the Low Gap Astros in the semifinals. East Wilkes’ Chandler Bare pitched five solid innings on the mound, while East Wilkes’ Will Jolly cranked a homer.

In the other semifinal matchup, Mt. Airy topped Franklin to advance to the championship game. Mt. Airy went on to capture the title with a 7-2 victory. Kenny Overfelt was named the tournament Most Valuable Player.

The Surry County Little League All-Star team will pick up later in July, headed by Elkin’s Brad Edward. The roster has not been released at the time of publication.
