Wayne Overcash will be preaching at Garden Creek Baptist Church on Sunday at 9 a.m. Everyone is invited to worship in this historic church, especially campers in Stone Mountain State Park (camping clothes are fine).

Union Baptist Church will have revival Sept. 19-22 at 7 p.m. each evening. Don Ball will be bringing the message and there will be special singing. Pastor Steve Stoltzfus invites everyone to worship with them.

The Traphill Fire Department will have a chicken BBQ on Saturday. They will begin selling at 10:30 a.m. so get there early if want some of that good chicken.

There will be a benefit BBQ chicken dinner for Danielle Summerlin, a 21-year-old cancer patient, at Roaring River Ruritan Club on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. Proceeds will go to help with medical expenses.

There will be a Wilkes Christian Sportsman Celebration at Foothills Christian College in Wilkesboro (the old Wilkes Central High School) on Monday. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Hank Parker and music by Presley Barker and Wayne Henderson & the Elkville String Band.

Faith River will perform at the Rocky Ridge Family Campground on White Rock Road in Thurmond on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy an evening of good gospel music.

New books available to check out at the library include “Secret Life of Pets Little Golden Book” by Dennis R. Shealy, “Serafina and the Twisted Staff” by Robert Beatty, “Sweet Tomorrows” by Debbie Macomber, “There’s No Place Like Space: All about our Solar System” by Tish Rabe, “Thief of Glory” by Sigmund Brouwer, and “Truly Madly Guilty” by Liane Moriarty.

The Friends of the Traphill Library are planning to have a yard on Sept. 24 at the Traphill Tan and Tone. If you have donations you can drop them off at the Traphill Tan and Tone any time before then. They request no clothes.

Holloway, Joseph Kennedy and Jasmine Nicole Kennedy on Sept. 15; Marian Holbrook on Sept. 16; Bronda Nichols and Alisha Ray on Sept. 17; and Gina Hincher and Barry Hutchinson on Sept. 18.

Happy anniversary wishes go to Scott and Starla Gambill, who celebrate their fourth anniversary on Sept. 15.

Traphill had a low temperature of 59.9 degrees on Sept. 5 and a high temperature of 94.8 degrees on Sept. 7. There was only a sprinkle of rain in Traphill during the week of Sept. 5-11.
