The Traphill Road will be closed for about three weeks at the Hutchison Dairy, which is south of the Traphill Branch Library. There will be detour signs to get around that area.

Jerry Sidden will be bringing an update of the Gideon ministry at Garden Creek Baptist Church on Sunday at 9 a.m. Everyone is invited to worship in this historic church, especially campers in Stone Mountain State Park (camping clothes are fine). Don’t forget that the Longbottom Road is still closed due to a bridge replacement.

Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church will have a Youth Family Day on Saturday, beginning at 3 p.m. There will be games, food and great fellowship. Pastor Sammy Taylor invites all young (and young at heart) folks to attend.

White Rock United Methodist Church will have Port-A-Pit BBQ Chicken for sale on Saturday at 10 a.m. until it’s sold out. Plates will be $9 and include a half chicken, baked beans, slaw, roll and dessert. Chicken halves are $6.

There will be an old-fashion tent revival at the Austin Ball Park July 31 through Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. There will be different preachers and singers each night.

The annual Samuel Johnson reunion will be Aug. 7 at Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church fellowship hall at 1 p.m. All descendants of Samuel Johnson are invited to bring a covered dish and enjoy an afternoon of catching up on family news.

There will be 100 miles of yard sales on U.S. 21 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for folks who like going to yard sales.

New DVDs available to check out at the Traphill Branch Library include “Fever Pitch,” “The Christmas Hope,” “The Best Exotic Hotel,” “What I Did For Love,” “The Christmas Shoes” and “Ali.”

New books available to check out at the library include “The 12 Brides of Summer Collection: 12 Historical Brides Find Love in the Good Old Summertime” by Mary Connealy, “After You” by Jojo Moses, “All Summer Long” by Dorothea Benton Frank, “All the Birds in the Sky” by Charlie Jane Anders, “All’s Fair in Love and Cupcakes” by Betsy St. Almant.

Happy birthday wishes go to Shane Jolly, Shane Prevette and Zachery Faircloth on July 25; Bernie Bryant, Claude Smith, Ayla Pruitt and Zendoline Adams on July 26; Breanna Lambert and Willow Grace Kennedy on July 27; Joshua Hutchison, Rusty Shumate, Addison Foster and Rita Shepherd on July 29; Ray Kennedy and Jackie Mae Pack on July 30; and Christina McGrady on July 31.

Happy anniversary wishes go to Joseph and Stephanie Knight, who celebrate their second anniversary on July 26; and Ruth Ann and Jonathan Mathis, who celebrate their fourth anniversary on July 27.

Traphill had a low temperature of 67.8 degrees on July 21 and a high temperature of 95.5 degrees on July 24. There was no rain in Traphill during the week of July 18-24.
