Archie Watkins and Smoky Mountain Reunion from Bryson City concert at Old Roaring River Baptist Church had to be canceled at the last minute due to Archie being in the hospital. It will be rescheduled sometime next month.

There will be a Chili Cook-Off and Silent Auction as a fundraiser to benefit the Gateway to Guatemala Mission Team at Roaring Gap Baptist Church on Saturday at noon. This is sponsored by the Roaring Gap youth and will be donations only.

Traphill Baptist Church will have Easter Sunrise Service at 6:45 a.m., followed by breakfast in the fellowship hall. There will be no Sunday school and worship service will at 9 a.m.

Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church will have an Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m., followed with breakfast in the fellowship hall. Sunday school will be at 9 a.m. and worship service at 10 a.m. There will be no evening service.

Old Roaring River Baptist Church will have an Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. with breakfast at 7:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall. There will be no Sunday school and the worship service will be at 9 a.m. The offering taken that day will go to the Cemetery Fund to pay for mowing. Pastor James Pardue invites everyone to worship with them.

Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church will have Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday school will at 9 a.m. and worship service at 10 a.m. Pastor Tracy Nichols invites everyone to attend.

New books available to check out at the Traphill Branch Library include “Mermaid Moon” by Colleen Coble, “NYPD Rd 4” by James Patterson, “Playground” by Miles Van Hout, “Scholastic Book of World Records 2015” by Jennifer Corr Morse, “Snappsy the Alligator (Did Not Ask to Be in This Book)” by Julie Falatko, and “A Son’s Vow: The Charmed Amish Life” by Shelley Shepard Gray.

There will an Easter Egg Hunt and Story time at the Traphill Branch Library on Saturday at 11 a.m. Librarian Brittney Barbour invites all kids to attend.

The Austin Ball Park will be signing up folks to play ball on Saturday from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. The cost is $30 per player or $60 for a family up to four ($10 each for more than four). For more information, check their Facebook page “Austin Ball Park.” They also need volunteers for coaching, concessions, score box and field maintenance.

Condolences go to the family of John Earl McGrady, who died on March 13; the family of Shirley Wiles, who died on March 15; and the family of Wanda Bowers, who died on March 17.

Emily Johnson Roberts enjoyed several days visiting with her family recently, especially the time she spent with her grandmother, Walsie Johnson.

Get well wishes go to Mitchell Spicer and Dean Cleary, who recently had heart attacks; Judy DePree, who had a hip replacement; and H.C. Kennedy, who was in the hospital last week.

Happy birthday wishes go to Jamie Johnson on March 21; Bonnie Brooks and Loreen Holbrook on March 22; James Holbrook and Margaret Stanley on March 23; Misty Hall on March 24; Sheila Johnson Cranford on March 25; Angela Spicer Ratledge and Matt Watson on March 26; and Bradley Hutchinson, Deana Jo Vanderwal, Charlotte Sloan and Carrie Baker on March 27.

Happy anniversary wishes go to Charlie and Lucille Gambill, who celebrate their 60th anniversary on March 24; and Chris and April Johnson, who celebrate their anniversary on March 24.

Traphill had a low temperature of 42.5 degrees on March 20 and a high temperature of 83.4 degrees on March 16. There was .3 inch of rain in Traphill during the week of March 14-20.
