Winners at Friendship Motor Speedway Saturday night included Chad Call of North Wilkesboro, Richard Clew of Harmony, Billy Wagoner of North Wilkesboro, Kevin Gwyn of Mount Airy, Ron Parker of Belwood, and Kasey Shane.

Call, Robbie Brown, and Steve Faw entered the Super Stock 4 feature at separated by just five points. The two finished in the top three, with Brown (third in points entering the race) taking second and Faw (second in points before the race) taking third.

“It’s a real tight points battle,” Call said. “It seems like every week it’s been ending up they’re in front of me or I’m in front of them. It’s really hard racing.”

Call, 42, moved up from his No. 3 start in the heat race, passing Billy Robbins on the third lap to pick up the heat win and the pole position for the feature. “The car was really hooked up and running really well,” he said. “I really couldn’t do no wrong.”

The two-time track champion at Hickory Motor Speedway picked up his seventh feature win of the season. Call has been racing at Friendship for three years.

“I need to give a big thanks to my mom (Karen) and dad (Alvin); wife wife (Tracy); and children (Avery, age 6, and Bristol, age 2) for letting me do this,” Call said. “It takes a lot time to race; a lot of time away from family.”

Call is sponsored by several North Wilkesboro businesses: Tim Harold Empire Dodge; Shumate Cleaning Service; Smokey Moon Barbecue Sauce; Impact Collision Center; Foothills Lawn Care; Twin Lakes Grooming; Danny’s Car Cleanup: Auto Zone; Pearce Powder Coating; Danny Hollar Racing Engines; and “Jake.”

“I’m lucky to have all these sponsors,” Call said.

Call started strong this season before motor troubles set him back in May. “I got another motor together,” he said. “Been going strong ever since. I’m really tickled with the way its running.”

Racing at Friendship Motor Speedway continues Saturday night.
